Local youth column: Volleyball junior squad plays AAU event

The Naples Junior Volleyball program traveled to Orlando on Jan. 26-27 to participate in the AAU Chill Blast tournament. The 14 Extreme squad — down to six players because of illnesses — finished third in its pool, though on the second day, it rallied to win the Silver Championship match, defeating IVC 14-Travel two sets to one.

The 13 Regional team played its first-ever event, earning a win on the second day of action before losing in the Bronze Division championship match.

The 14 Regional team placed third in its five-team pool, while the 15 Extreme placed second in its pool to qualify for the Gold Division. In the Gold Division, the 15-year-olds advanced to the semifinals before finishing third overall.

The 18 Extreme squad placed second in the Silver Division.
