Confronted about creating a disturbance at a bar, an Immokalee man told Collier County sheriff's deputies that he is a boxer and they didn't know who they were messing with.

Maybe so, but they had stun guns.

Deputies entered the El Cubano bar in Immokalee early Monday after they were flagged down by a passerby who alerted them to a man causing a disturbance inside, according to an arrest report. Once inside, deputies attempted to pat down Steven Ray Orengo, 43, at which point they were approached by a man who accused Orengo of having a knife.

Orengo lunged at the man, reports said. When deputies intervened, reports say Orengo clenched is fists and told them "you don't know who you're messing with, (expletive), I'm a boxer."

One of the deputies deployed his stun gun at Orengo, but only one of the probes hit him, striking Orengo in the neck, reports said. Deputies struggled with Orengo, striking him again with their stun guns. They found a pocket knife in his pants, reports said.

Orengo continued to struggle with deputies, who sprayed pepper spray in his face and deployed their stun guns at least four more times as they struggled to control him and transport him to jail. Once at the Immokalee jail, Orengo attacked a deputy who was removing stun gun probes from his skin, reports said.

Orengo, of the 100 box of East Immokalee Drive, is facing felony charges of obstructing justice, battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer with violence.
