TAMPA — Gov. Rick Scott is scheduled to hold a cabinet meeting on the opening day of the Florida State Fair in Tampa.
Thursday morning's meeting is the second year in a row that Scott and the cabinet have met at the fair.
According to a news release, Scott will preside over the official opening of the fair's midway between 6:30 and 7 a.m. He's then slated to attend a Fresh from Florida breakfast, attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony at a cattle exhibit and then hold the cabinet meeting. Later, Scott will show the new Visit Florida TV ad.
Scott and other officials use the day to highlight Florida's farm heritage. Agriculture is a $100 billion industry for Florida, and it employs tens of thousands of people.
