A Golden Gate Estates man is accused of stealing a golf cart from the Bayfront community and selling it to a dealer.

In mid-December, a cleaning crew at the Bayfront community association, 499 Bayfront Place, told Naples police its golf cart had been stolen, according to an arrest report.

In January, the company was given a loaner golf cart from Electric Motion Golf Carts, 3945 Bayshore Drive, while it waited for a part for its new golf cart. The cleaning company's owner noticed the loaner golf cart looked like the stolen golf cart and confirmed his suspicions by checking the serial number, reports said.

The owner of Electric Motion provided documentation showing he bought the golf cart from Richard Charles Brown, 19, for $550, deputies reported. Investigators found Brown on Wednesday at a home on the 2900 block of Terrace Avenue and placed him under arrest.

Brown, of the 1900 block of Della Drive, faces charges of grand theft and dealing in stolen property.
