TAMPA — Firefighters have made a memorable rescue in Tampa: A family of ducklings that fell into a storm sewer.
Hillsborough County firefighters were called to the scene Sunday after a woman walking her dog heard the ducklings in a drain.
About eight of the young birds had fallen through the grate and were without their mother.
Firefighters and a public works crew lifted the gate to let them out, but the ducklings moved further inside. The fire captain eventually climbed a ladder down into the drain and was able to bring the ducklings to safety. They have been reunited with their mother.
