Local golf: Former FGCU golfers Lamielle, English qualify for Coors Light Open

Eric Steger shot a 67 to lead qualifiers for the Coors Light Open on Tuesday at Fort Myers Country Club. A total of eight made the field for this weekend’s 51st annual tournament.

Steger is a former Ball State golfer, and won his first pro event on the West Florida Golf Tour last March.

Robert Rohanna was second with a 68, and Kevin Roy had a 69. Former Florida Gulf Coast University golfer Joey Lamielle was fourth with a 70, tying with Shawn Warren, Bob Corcoran, Derrick Sherard and Kyle English, another former Eagles golfer.

The alternates are Kenny Goodykoontz, Craig Hicks, Josh Tolbert, and Stoneybrook teaching pro Mike Dopslaff, all of whom shot 71s.
