A Golden Gate Estates woman is accused of hitting a bicyclist with her car on Tuesday afternoon and then driving away.

But Allison Iris Silverstein, 22, told Collier County sheriff’s deputies she didn’t know she had hit anyone.

Around 3:30 p.m., witnesses said they saw a blue Buick Rendezvous sport utility vehicle hit a bicyclist near the exit of the YMCA at 5450 YMCA Road. The SUV’s driver stopped the car, looked around and then drove away, according to the witnesses.

Deputies tracked down the vehicle based on witnesses’ description of its license plate. Silverstein said she didn’t know what hit her SUV, although she mentioned seeing a bicyclist stand up from the area where she pulled away.

Silverstein was charged with hit-and-run and cited for leaving the scene of a crash with injuries and not having proof of insurance in her possession. The bicyclist was treated at Physician’s Regional Hospital for a broken collar bone.
