Deputies: Woman stole jewelry from boyfriend's step-mom on Christmas Eve

A Golden Gate Estates woman is accused of stealing about $2,000 worth of jewelry from her boyfriend's step mother on Christmas Eve.

Chelsea Rae Ward, 21, of the 1400 block of Wilson Boulevard North, is facing felony charges of dealing in stolen property and defrauding a pawnbroker.

The victim, who lives in LaBelle, told authorities that on Christmas morning she went to put on jewelry and noticed some of it was missing, according to an arrest report. She suspected Ward, her step-son's girlfriend, who had been over Christmas Eve.

In all, the victim reported two earrings, two bracelets and a ring missing, worth $1,880, reports said.

Collier County sheriff's deputies found the stolen jewelry at a local pawnshop, and spoke with an employee who recalled buying it from Ward. They located Ward on Thursday and arrested her.
