Man shot to death in front of Fort Myers church school

Video from NBC-2

— A man shot to death Monday morning in front of a Fort Myers church is the city’s first homicide victim of 2013, according to police.

Just before 11 a.m., witnesses reported hearing shots fired near Apostolic Revival Center Christian School at 2100 Barden St. Shortly after, a man’s body was found inside a car in the parking lot.

As of late Monday, police had not yet released the victim’s name.

Last year, there were 24 homicides in Fort Myers, the city’s highest number since officials began keeping track about 20 years ago.
