Detectives investigating Pizza Hut burglaries

Two Pizza Hut restaurants in Collier County were burglarized between closing time Sunday and opening Monday, according to Sheriff's Office reports.

At the first Pizza Hut in Golden Gate, 12045 Collier Blvd., the register was thrown to the floor, and money taken from the safe, deputies reported. There did not appear to be forced entry.

At an East Naples Pizza Hut, 3110 U.S. 41 E., the back door handle was broken off and the front glass door was smashed. The register was also thrown to the floor, although it did not appear any money or valuables were taken. Deputies estimated the damage was worth $250 to $300.

Both burglaries showed a "same entry M.O." with "similar ransacking," according to investigators.

As of Tuesday, detectives still were investigating.
