A Naples man died Saturday night after he was partially ejected from his vehicle on Interstate 75 near Venice.
Thomas Jeffery Miller II, 34, of Naples, died in in the single-vehicle crash near mile marker 197 of I-75 in Sarasota County, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.
Just before 7 p.m., Miller was traveling northbound in the center lane of the interstate when he failed to maintain control of his 2002 Toyota Rav4, according to FHP. The SUV entered the grass median, where it struck several palm trees and overturned multiple times. It came to a final rest on its roof in the median.
The driver, who was partially ejected and critically injured, was taken by Bayflite helicopter to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, where he was pronounced dead. Miller was not wearing a seat belt, according to FHP.
