A Golden Gate man is accused of trying to lure a girl into his van Tuesday night outside an East Naples store.

The girl told Collier deputies she was dropped off to buy a gift for her friend at store in the 9800 block of Collier Boulevard when she noticed a man in a blue van drive around her twice before parking close to the woods. She said the man, later identified as Orlinde Ricardo-Romero, 46, started walking toward her, grabbed her arm and told her to go with him.

The girl said she struggled with Ricardo-Romero, who let her go when another car pulled in next to them. Ricardo-Romero ran into the woods, and she ran to an older couple and asked to use their cell phone to call for help, according to an arrest report.

The girl's father rushed to the store after hearing about the attempted kidnapping and confronted Ricardo-Romero outside his van, reports said. The two began fighting and the father punched Ricardo-Romero in the face, deputies reported.

Ricardo-Romero told deputies he did not interact with anyone in the parking lot and said he had no idea why the girl's father attacked him, reports said.

Ricardo-Romero, of the 4700 block of 25th Avenue Southwest, faces a charge of attempted kidnapping.
