There as plenty of action as Marco Island Senior Softball League as players get back into their softball groove.

Here are the results from recent games.

Island division

Nacho Mama's, 23; Islander Restaurant, 14

Rich Schiller had a day he will never forget, banging out five hits, one a home run, while knocking in eight runs for Nacho's. Teammate Grady Fuller also racked up five hits and Tom Pugh three. Pugh had three RBIs, Rich Krumholz, Garry LaMotte, Chuck Reich, Mike Puskar and Fuller had two RBIs each. Islander's Bill DiNeno stroked four hits, Jim Dorey and Ron Hobson three. Dorey had five RBIs, Hobson three, Dave Banghart and Herman Griffith,two. Krumholz had a triple for Nacho's, along with Banghart and Griffith for the Islander.

Brewery, 13; DaVinci's, 5

John Cavanagh, Ray Kane, and Ray Niemeyer had three hits each for the Brewery, with Cavanagh and Kane blasting home runs. Cavanagh recorded four RBIs, Kane three and Doug Smith two. DaVinci's Bill Shurina cracked three hits, including a triple. Jim Green had two RBIs.

Sand Bar, 17; Sasso's, 16

The game was tied, 13-13, going into the ninth inning when Sand Bar scored four runs and held on for the win. Jim Yount chalked up five hits, including four doubles to pace Sand Bar. John Sherwin had four hits, Scott Byers and Jack Evans three each. Yount brought home four runs, Steve Clark three. Bombaci and Sherwin each had triples. John DeRosa stung the ball for five hits for Sasso's and Larry Anspach stroked four. Jeff Hultgren, Charlie Lamb and Anspach drove in three runs each, Bob Levasseur and Art Sinisi had two each.

Brewery, 18; Sand Bar, 11

The game was tied at 11-11 entering the bottom of the eighth inning when the Brewery scored seven runs to put the game away. John Cavanagh continued stinging the ball, having four hits, while Ed Brack, Ray Niemeyer and Tom Porter punched out three each. Brack drove in seven runs, Cavanagh three and John Remhoff two. Cavanagh and Brack each had triples. Sand Bar's Jim Gross, Jim Blankenship, Jim Rampage and Pete Oellrich knocked out three hits each. Jack Evans hoisted a home run and Gross a triple. Blankenship had three RBIs, Steve Clark, Gross and Evan two each.

Nacho Mama's, 17; DaVinci's, 4

Nacho's erupted for six runs in the third, scoring all the runs it would need. Rich Krumholz and Tom Gazzillo lashed out three hits each, with Gazillo slamming a three-run home run. Gary LaMotte and George Schnorr had two hits each. Jack O'Brien lined four hits for DaVinci's, with Paul Shelton having three. O'Brien and Tom Angelo each smacked a triple.

Islander Restaurant, 14; Sasso's, 13

Sasso's lost its second straight game by one run. The Islander's Rich Small continued his torrid hitting, slamming out four hits, with Jim Williams and Jim Dorey having three each. Dave Banghart and Herman Griffith had home runs, a solo shot for Banghart and a grand slam for Griffith. Dorey and Ed Kingsbury drove in two runs apiece and both had triples. Sasso's Bob Levasseur and Charlie Lamb smoked four hits and both had triples, while Art Sinisi and Bill Thompson and Mike Endelman chipped in with three hits each. Levasseur had three RBIs, Lamb and Larry Anspach, two each.

Sasso's, 20; DaVinci's, 12

Mike Endelman, Jimmy Cuevas and Larry Anspach tagged the ball for four hits each, while John DeRosa and Mike Galatis had three hits each as Sasso's earned the team's first win. Anspach, who had a triple, drove in four runs, Bob Levasseur three, and Bill Thompson, Art Senisi, DeRosa and Cuevas two each. Jack O'Brien, Tom Angelo. Jerry Engel and John Barrett connected for three hits each for DaVinci's. Angelo had three RBIs, O'Brien and Engel two each.

Islander Restaurant, 19; Sand Bar, 17

Rich Small continued to terrorize the opposition, hammering out four hits, including three doubles and a home run, as he knocked in eight runs. Jerry Cnudde also had four hits, with Dave Banghart, Jim Williams, and Herman Griffith adding three each. Ed Kingsbury chased home three runs, with Banghart and Griffith driving in two each. John Gross and Jim Blankenship stroked four hits each for Sand Bar, with Scott Byers and Jack Evans having three each. Byers cracked a home run while knocking in five runs and Gross and Blankenship three RBIs each.

Brewery, 11; Nacho Mama's, 10

In an extra-inning game the Brewery scored two runs to remain undefeated at

4-0. Jack Martin was the catalyst, hammering out four hits and driving in three runs. Ed Brack drilled three hits, with Ray Kane contributing three RBIs and Doug Smith two. Rich Krumholz's slammed out four hits, driving in three runs for Nacho's. Paul Vorwick, George Schnorr and Jim Gilligan slapped out three hits each, with Gilligan driving in two runs.

Marco division

CJ's on the Bay, 12; Mutual of Omaha Bank, 7

Roger Fleming pitched a six hitter in the win for CJ's. Bill Kayhart provided the firepower with three hits, including a triple. Warren Uhl, Lee Dilk, and Jim O'Meara had two hits each, with O'Meara, Fran Roche and Dan Meir driving in two runs each. Butch Monson and Dave Droddy, had two hits each for the Bank with Droddy having two RBIs.

Rookies, 10, Crazy Flamingo, 9

Rookies was down five runs coming up to its last at bats. A number of miscued plays led to Jim White's second hit of the day, driving in the winning run. Teammate Jim Conway also had two hits. Joe Furst, Steve Slaggie, and Keith Stought stroked two hits each for Flamingo, while Doug Patton drove in two runs.

Joey's Pizza, 17; ADKOS, 5

Joey's assaulted ADKOS with 16 hits for its second win of the season. Art Fletcher collected three hits for Joey's, with Don Schwartz and Tony Brock chipping in with two hits each. Brock and Darryl Judson drove in two runs each. Jim Vitas lined three hits for ADKOS with Chet Dal Bianco, Frank Dooley and Steve Roberts having two each.

ADKOS, 5, Crazy Flamingo, 4

Dan Callahan of ADKOS was locked in a pitching battle with Roger Wise of Flamingo for nine innings before ADKOS was able to push across the winning run. ADKOS was led by Chet Dal Bianco, who had three hits, George Kirk and Leroy Fishleigh had two each. Doug Patton banged out three hits for Flamingo with Dom Fiorda and Buff Morris having to hits each.

Joey's Pizza, 12; CJ's on the Bay, 7

In a battle of unbeatens, the game was tied going into the seventh when Joey's pushed across three runs on key hits from Bob and Gray Grant. Bob Grant, Don Rooksberry, and Rick Benedetti all had two hits. Bob Smith and Lee Dilk had two hits each for CJ's, while Fred Kramer drove in three runs.

Mutual of Omaha Bank, 5; Rookies, 3

Pitcher Butch Monson bested Ed Kopecky, earning the Bank its first win of the season. Monson helped his own cause with two hits and two RBIs. Jack Stephen also had two hits. Kopecky had two hits and two RBIs, with Rookie team members Joe Kruse, Larry Tuttle, and Nick Brooks recording two hits each.
