First Baptist Academy senior Austin Williamson has been nominated for the McDonald's All-American Game. He is the only player from Southwest Florida nominated for the senior all-star game, and one of nine nominees from the state.
No Southwest Florida player has ever been selected for the McDonald's All American Game, which began in 1978. This year's game is April 3 in Chicago.
A 6-foot-8, 230-pound power forward, Williamson averages 15.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.7 blocks a game this season for First Baptist (17-2). He is committed to Army and has scored 1,427 points in four varsity seasons.
The final 24-person rosters for the boys and girls All-American Game will be announced live at 5 p.m. Feb. 14 on ESPNU. Williamson is one of 468 boys players nominated from 39 states and the District of Columbia.
