Collier County sheriff's deputies on Monday arrested a Naples man who is accused of forging and selling certificates of completion from a trade school specializing in home health care.

Lasner Jean Charles, 38, of the 1100 block of Granada Boulevard, turned himself in to deputies about a week after he was interviewed about the alleged scheme. He faces a felony charge of forging a record.

Deputies said Charles was selling completion certificates from Sunshine Training Center, a North Miami Beach training school, for $400 — the equivalent of the four-week program's cost. The owner and operator of Sunshine Training Center were tipped off to Charles' scheme by a former student, an arrest report said.

Two acquaintances of the center's owner bought completion certificates from Charles on separate occasions, the report said. Charles spoke with deputies Jan. 13 about the transactions, but his statements are redacted from an arrest report. He turned himself in eight days later.
