BONITA SPRINGS — Lee County authorities said Wednesday they believe alcohol was a factor in a single-vehicle crash that killed a Bonita Springs man Tuesday night.
At 8:12 p.m. Tuesday, the Sheriff's Office received a call about a vehicle on fire near Liberty Youth Ranch Way and Wellfield Road in Bonita. The car's driver, Roy M. Ahalt III, 69, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies said Ahalt's car hit trees in the wooded area and caught fire. Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. David Velez said detectives do not suspect anyone else was involved.
