Get over it, Cal Thomas, and all ye Republicans.
To harp continually about who voted for Mitt Romney will not make a difference.
We are blessed with “the republic for which it stands” with the freedoms of a democracy that has a Constitution and elects a president. It works.
Now it is time for Mitch McConnell, Republican Senate minority leader, and Rep. Michele Bachmann of the Republican tea party to change their work habits from doing anything and everything to defeat the president. It didn’t work!
The debt ceiling is not a bargaining chip. We need certainty for our economy and the global economy. If the Republican House does not extend the debt ceiling through this fiscal year, it may bring about unintended consequences. Democrats will wind up having control of both the House and Senate.
What will work is compromise and fixing which everyone agrees is a major problem — health care. Medicaid and Medicare rampant with fraud, it can be fixed. Social Security can be tweaked again, as under President Ronald Reagan — revenue enhanced by closing the tax loopholes. Defense budgets declined with our troops coming home from Afghanistan. Jobs Bill passed to upgrade our infrastructure.
Let’s get over it and work together for the good of these United States of America.
Together we are better. Synergistically we can be the best.
