Deputies investigating violent home invasion

Collier County sheriff's deputies are investigating an East Naples home invasion robbery that happened Jan. 25.

Around 1 a.m., a woman who lives on the 1400 block of Pompei Lane said she was sleeping when she was dragged from her bed and slammed to the floor. A man told her he had a gun and began to cover her nose and mouth, according to an incident report.

The intruder hit her in the head, then choked her and dragged her to the closet. The woman said she lost consciousness and when she awoke, her home had been ransacked.

The woman drove to a nearby CVS to report the crime since her cell phone had been taken, reports said. The woman described the intruder as a 6 foot tall black man who was covering his face with a shirt.

The victim was treated at NCH Downtown Naples Hospital for serious injuries to her face.
