SW Florida weather: Downpours set for afternoon, evening

Monday starts off with lingering clouds after a soggy weekend. In fact, Naples broke a maximum daily rainfall record Sunday accumulating 3.41 inches of rain, breaking the old record of 2.10 inches set in 1967.

Downpours remain lined up just offshore but will continue to push away from the coastlines this morning, leaving just a few light sprinkles for Collier County to contend with through the morning hours.

Most of the morning is dry, muggy and mostly cloudy. Highs will attempt to reach 90 degrees but with increased clouds, many spots will remain in the upper 80s.

As easterly winds transport more tropical moisture into our area this afternoon, scattered downpours are back in the forecast through the evening hours. Showers will diminish after sunset.
