SW Florida weather: More storms coming this afternoon

Higher than normal rain prospects will remain in the forecast over the next couple of days due to lots of moisture and help from an upper-air disturbance.

This morning, we'll start off with patchy clouds and a few breaks of sun and it will be warm and muggy with temperatures in the middle 70s. By midday, our skies will begin to cloud up and an isolated shower or two is certainly possible. Most of the rain will hold off until the afternoon hours as it cruises across the peninsula toward the west on a breezy easterly wind. Due to some extra cloud cover, daytime highs will be capped in the upper 80s.

A few scattered downpours will remain in the forecast through this evening, but once the sun's heating is gone, we'll manage to dry things out overnight with patchy clouds across the area. With lots of humidity still in play, temperatures will slowly fall into the middle 70s here in town, while our coastal and beach locations settle into the upper 70s.
