Flood advisory for Collier until 5:30 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for west central Collier County until 5:30 p.m.

The Doppler radar has indicated that two to four inches of rain has fallen from a nearly stationary thunderstorm during the last hour over the Golden Gate Estates area.

The storm will move very slowly to the northwest during the next hour or two, which can produce another one to two inches of rainfall.


The National Weather Service has issued a severe weather advisory for central Collier County until 5 p.m. for frequent to excessive lightning and gusty winds of 45 to 55 mph.

National Weather Service meteorologists detected a line of strong thunderstorms extending from intersection Alligator Alley and SR 29 to seven miles northwest of Everglades City.

The storm will affect Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve, Rock Island, SR 29 between I-75 and US 41 and surrounding communities.
