After a warm and muggy morning in Southwest Florida, the region will stay hot and humid today.
Highs are headed into the lower 90s, but the heat index will reach into the lower 100s. Take precautions if you have outdoor plans; take breaks, drink water and find shade. We'll see a good amount of sunshine through the morning hours. Winds will be light and variable, becoming easterly, then turning onshore this afternoon. That all adds up to a fairly typical summertime Southwest Florida storm pattern.
We'll get scattered showers and storms to form on the sea breeze this afternoon and that sea breeze is likely to set up near our urban locations with storms heading back toward the coastline as the sea breeze collapses. So, some of the areas that missed out on rain last week will get the chance for downpours today and the pattern will stick with us though the week.
