A new dimension in public service is coming from Collier County Clerk of Courts Dwight Brock.
It is so simple, yet so worthwhile — and just in time for the vacation/travel season
His office is holding its first-ever Saturday hours this week for passport applications for individuals and families who have upcoming travel plans and cannot take time off work on weekdays.
The following clerk’s locations will be open:
* Collier County Government Center at Airport Pulling Road and U.S. 41 East from 8 to 11 a.m.
* North Collier Government Services Center on Orange Blossom Drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
* Golden Gate Services Center on Golden Gate Parkway from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Suggested time saver: Go online to www.collierclerk.com/recording/passports to review passport application requirements, required documentation and fees.
Passport application forms can be found at
travel.state.gov; fill them out in advance, but do not sign until you are with an assistant at the clerk’s office.
Remember to use black ink on the application and bring your checkbook and passport photographs.
Phew. That’s a lot of directions. But don’t worry. It’s not as complicated as this makes it sound, and the clerk’s office is good at helping. Staying open this Saturday proves it.
Questions? Call the National Passport Information Center at 1-877-487-2778 or the local clerk’s office at 239-252-7242.
One last thing: Please arrive early to avoid lines and assure time to let the clerk’s office serve you within the allotted hours.
