Highs today will reach into the lower 90s, but the heat index will again soar to nearly 100 degrees.
After a few overnight downpours, Tuesday morning starts out warm and muggy. You'll step out the door to temperatures in the mid 70s to near 80 degrees, but feeling hotter. Skies will be mainly sunny through the morning with clouds building as we head toward midday. It's a pretty typical summertime setup where we expect scattered afternoon storms.
Coverage of those afternoon storms today will be for around 30 to 40 percent of the area. That means we'll see a little more activity than Monday, but still many areas will miss out on the rain. It looks like we'll see that rain chance starting as the sea breeze comes ashore around midday. Then most of the shower and storm activity will head inland, but come back toward the coastline in the evening as the sea breeze collapses.
