SW Florida weather: Tropical moisture hanging around

After a stormy end to the weekend, lingering tropical moisture will hang around for the start of the week with mainly afternoon showers and storms.

It will be a quiet start to the day with some sunshine to start and temperatures in the middle 70s. Through the day, temperatures will climb into the lower 90s, but when you add in all the humidity, heat index values will soar into the upper 90s during the afternoon. Expect a mix of sun and clouds across the area, with scattered showers and storms firing up during the heat of the day as they favor urban and coastal areas.

Through the evening, a few showers will get hung up along the coast and will eventually push over Gulf waters. Overnight, skies will clear out and it will remain quite sticky as temperatures settle into the middle 70s.
