Purchase of the Granicus Open Platform Cloud Suite: The cloud has many issues, including security and integrity of the data stored there.
This was approved by 4-3 for the portrayed cost savings. I commend the three for dissenting, and I have questions for Gretchen Baldus, IT director and for the City Council:
- Will this lead to reduction of current employees?
-Are other software components also required?
-How will this achieve transparency, accountability, and accessibility?
- How soon will this: Lead to a paperless agenda; enable us to access meetings from the web, do searches, and electronically submit comments?
- What is the total cost of the purchase and implementation, and for ongoing maintenance costs?
- What cost guarantees do we have? Will our IT Director, the contractor, and the four approving councilmen guarantee this, to the point that they will pay for any cost overruns? Our City Council is still pushing the Community Center issue; they just refuse to accept a no answer. What happened to the majority rules? They refuse to accept no. This is one a problem where our nation is going wrong. Those not in the majority want things, but they want someone else to pay for them.
