Lee County sheriff’s deputies arrested two men Friday who they say robbed two banks earlier in the day.

Around 2:30 p.m., a man robbed a Wells Fargo Bank on Palm Beach Boulevard, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

After the robbery, deputies got descriptions of the robber and his getaway vehicle. A few minutes later, deputies located a vehicle matching the description and conducted a traffic stop. However, the driver fled.

A Sheriff’s Office K-9 tracked down the suspect, identifed as Jose Figueroa, 40.

Around 5 p.m., another man entered a Fifth Third Bank on U.S. 41 implied he had a weapon and fled with money.

Deputies identified Daniel Ball, 36, as a suspect. The Sheriff’s Office, along with a U.S. Marshal’s task force, located him in Lehigh Acres and arrested him.

Ball had outstanding warrants for at least two other bank robberies in Fort Myers this week, and is a suspect in other Lee robberies.

Authorities believe Figueroa may also be responsible for other bank robberies in the county as well.
