A Naples-area woman is behind bars, accused of striking a man on a scooter with her car and then fleeing the scene.
Danielle Grau, 35, is facing a felony charge of leaving the scene of a crash with injuries and misdemeanor charges of driving with a suspended license and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage.
Around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, Grau was driving a 1997 Chrysler Sebring convertible on Golden Gate Parkway when Florida Highway Patrol troopers say she struck a scooter driven by Howard A. Vanpelt, according to a news release. Grau then fled the scene.
Vanpelt, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected onto the road. He was taken to NCH Hospital with serious injuries, FHP reports.
On Monday, the FHP received an anonymous tip, and located and arrested Grau. The Sebring was impounded as evidence in the case, according to reports.
