Sergeants with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office have voted again to decertify the International Union of Police Associations as their bargaining unit.
In all, 46 sergeants voted to decertify the union, 24 voted to keep it and 13 did not vote, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
The sergeants had previously voted to decertify the union last July by a tally of 48 to 25. But they were ordered to revote in January by the Florida Public Employees Relations Commission.
The commission ruled that Sheriff Mike Scott illegally influenced the first vote by offering $2,400 bonuses to nonunion members shortly before votes were cast.
