From what I could ascertain after conferring with several legal professionals, due to the so-called Florida’s hire and fire at will law, employees of certain businesses must accept termination from an employ for any reason, even if the employee finds him or herself not at fault.
Am I to understand an affected excellent employee who was “sacked” is not entitled to due process? An owner of a certain business can terminate on a whim? Or ignore a fired employee’s right to a fair and impartial hearing? In this country and this state?
This happened to my dear wife after 16 years of managing a local restaurant and contributing 200 percent to the success of this establishment.
This so-called hire and fire at will is unjust and needs change. I am certain others have experienced this and I will endeavor to try to find a way to change this outrageous law and its blatant disregard for a person’s right to due process.
