Lee sheriff honored as elected official of the year

Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott will be honored tonight in Fort Myers as Southwest Florida’s elected official of the year.

Scott will be awarded by the National Association of Social Workers’ local chapter. The ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. at the Crown Plaza at Bell Tower.

A nomination letter for Scott noted his initiative in driving several programs for seniors as well as the Sheriff’s Youth Activities League.
