An East Naples man is accused of hitting a firefighter in the groin after striking several cars Wednesday night with his SUV.
David Christopher Lee, 37, faces charges of DUI, battery on an officer, hit and run, violation of drivers license restrictions and four counts of DUI property damage.
Witnesses told Collier County sheriff’s deputies Lee’s silver SUV struck several cars at U.S. 41 and Collier Boulevard, then tried to drive away. Two witnesses who went to check on Lee said he flipped them off with his middle finger, according to an arrest report.
Lee then hit a firefighter in the groin as medics tried to treat him at the scene, reports said. Lee was taken to NCH Downtown Naples Hospital to be evaluated.
Deputies investigating the crash said Lee showed them his middle finger, called them obscene names and flicked one of their badges. Lee had bloodshot eyes and smelled strongly of alcohol from 8 to 10 feet away, arrest reports said.
A blood sample taken from Lee at the hospital showed a blood alcohol content of .289, according to reports.
Lee, of the 100 block of Islamorada Lane, was taken to the Naples Jail Center after being released from the hospital. As of Thursday, he remained jailed in lieu of bonds totaling $16,500.
