An Immokalee man is accused of burglarizing a Goodwill store and a tire store early Sunday morning.
Just after midnight, Collier deputies received a call about a security alarm going off at the Goodwill at 400 N. 15th St. Deputies saw a man in a blue shirt and dark pants running away from the store toward a vacant field, an arrest report said.
Inside the store, the burglar had raided the cash register and the refrigerator, according to reports. It appeared someone had broken into the building by prying off the back door with a knife.
Through video surveillance, deputies identified the suspect as 58-year-old Diego Reyna, reports stated.
Around 1:30 p.m., deputies also investigated the burglary of Immokalee Tire, which is next door to the Goodwill. Reports said the air conditioning unit on the back side of the store had been removed and thrown to the ground.
A manager said nothing appeared to have been stolen from the store, but tire supplies from a work counter had been thrown on the floor. Deputies found a hat at the scene that had been seen on Reyna at Goodwill, according to reports.
Deputies scanned the area and found Reyna on South Fifth Avenue near West Delaware Avenue. He was arrested and taken to the Immokalee Jail Center.
Reyna, who is listed as homeless in Immokalee, faces two felony charges of burglary of a structure while armed. As of Monday, he was being held on bonds totaling $45,000.
