Woman accused of stealing, pawning jewelry

A 29-year-old East Naples woman faces five charges of dealing in stolen property and one count of grand theft, accused of stealing jewelry from a family friend’s home.

Jessica Taylor Hamric, 29, of the 3000 block of Estey Avenue, was arrested by Collier deputies Monday at her home.

Deputies said Hamric was staying at the victim’s home while the victim’s son completed a 10-year prison sentence. While rummaging through boxes upon her son’s return from prison, the victim noticed jewelry had been stolen sometime between September 2012 and January 2013, an arrest report said.

During a search of pawn shop records, deputies said they found five jewelry transactions by Hamric between September 2012 and February 2013, totaling $830. The victim positively identified her jewelry from pictures taken at the pawn shops, the report said.

Hamric remains in jail on $55,000 bond.
