Motorcyclist killed in crash on Oil Well Road

— A Bonita Springs man was killed Sunday after he lost control of his motorcycle on Oil Well Road and crashed.

Rodney Jack, 45, died as a result of the crash, which happened about 12:44 p.m. Sunday on Oil Well Road just east of Pringle Lane, which is east of State Road 29 in eastern Collier County.

According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, Jack was driving his 2006 Suzuki GSX R1000 motorcycle east on Oil Well Road when he failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway. His motorcycle traveled off the roadway onto the south grass shoulder, according to reports, and the front of his motorcycle collided with a guardrail end on the south shoulder.

As a result of the collision, the motorcycle lost control and continued traveling east along the east shoulder of the road, according to reports. The motorcycle grazed bushes on the south shoulder of the road, according to reports.

The motorcycle continued traveling east and the front of the motorcycle collided with a tree on the south shoulder.

As a result of the collision, Jack was ejected from the motorcycle onto the east shoulder of the road, according to reports.

He was wearing a helmet, according to FHP.
