Ave Maria baseball stumbles at Clearwater Christian

The Ave Maria baseball team fell to Clearwater Christian, 3-1, at home on Monday.

The Gyrenes took an early 1-0 lead on a Nick Sacchetta sacrifice fly in the first inning. However, the Gyrenes offensive production halted, and Clearwater Christian’s late-game heroics took over.

The Cougars scored two runs in the sixth inning and a game-sealing run in the eighth.

The Gyrenes will begin a three-game series on the road against Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach on Friday.
