An East Naples man is accused of raping a woman in her home Monday night.
The adult victim told Collier County sheriff’s deputies she was sleeping in her bed around 11 p.m. when a man she knew as Robby Jay McLoyd got on top of her and began placing duct tape over her mouth.
The victim said she started kicking McLoyd, 28, away from her, but McLoyd covered her mouth with a pillow when his attempts to duct tape her face were unsuccessful, according to an arrest report. He then cursed at her and threatened to kill her.
After the sexual assault, the victim attempted to call for help but McLoyd told her he would kill himself if she did so, deputies reported. McLoyd then took a kitchen knife to his arm to make it bleed, reports said.
The victim eventually was able to leave to get help at a neighbor’s home. When deputies went back to her home to investigate, they found duct tape on the bed, a drop of blood on the floor and a bloody kitchen knife on the stove that corroborated her account, according to reports.
The victim said it was not the first time McLoyd had assaulted her and said she “has had enough,” the Sheriff’s Office reported. Deputies later found McLoyd in the parking lot of NCH North Naples Hospital and admitted him to be treated for cocaine ingestion, according to reports.
McLoyd, whose exact address was redacted from reports, faces a felony charge of sexual battery on a victim over 12 and a misdemeanor charge of battery.
