Saad & Kraus has hired Stephen D. Peterson as a new associate.
Peterson graduated from Clearwater Christian College with a bachelor’s degree in 2006 and from the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law with a law degree and an MBA in 2011.
Peterson practices in the areas of business litigation, real estate litigation and landlord-tenant disputes.

Trust companies sponsor walk
Employees and friends of the Naples Trust Co., together with its parent company, the Sanibel Captiva Trust Co., joined forces to walk and sponsor NAMI Walk 2013 at Cambier Park on March 23.
About 400 people walked and helped raise $100,000 for the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill in Southwest Florida.
The Sanibel Captiva Trust Co., parent company to The Naples Trust Co., provides wealth management services to high net-worth individuals and families, endowments, foundations and businesses.
Entrepreneur Award nominations sought
The Small Business Development Center at Florida Gulf Coast University is accepting nominations for the 2013 Southwest Florida Distinguished Entrepreneur Award through Sunday.
The award recognizes small to mid-sized businesses for overall success. Candidates must be in business for three or more years, display a high level of overall success and be able to demonstrate innovations, achievements and local impact. The award will be presented May 22 at the FGCU Cohen Center.
Foundation hosted advisers, brokers meeting
The Southwest Florida Community Foundation hosted a female advisers and brokers meeting March 21 at the foundation’s office, 8771 College Parkway, Fort Myers.
Advisers and brokers meet quarterly to develop relationships and provide higher education on unique topics.
Jennifer Basey of Edward Jones moderated the meeting. The foundation supports Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Glades and Hendry counties by connecting donors and their philanthropic aspirations with evolving community needs.
With assets of more than $68 million, the foundation has provided more than $54 million in grants and scholarships to the communities it serves.
