A man was robbed while trying to buy marijuana Thursday afternoon in Naples Park, according to authorities.
The victim told Collier County sheriff’s deputies he met a couple at an East Naples bus stop, then went with them to their home on the 600 block of 99th Avenue North. While he was sitting on the couple’s porch, another man — later identified as Francisco Rene Fernandez — came to the screen door, pointed a gun at him and demanded money.
The victim said he gave Fernandez his wallet, which contained $600 and his ID. The home’s resident, who knew Fernandez, told deputies he gave him a small amount of marijuana.
Fernandez said he was high on crack cocaine at the time of the robbery, the resident later told deputies.
Fernandez was stopped and arrested around 1:30 p.m. at 99th Avenue and Sixth Street North. He faces felony charges of armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
