The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for help finding a green SUV that caused an accident Friday afternoon.
According to reports, the four-door, green SUV was traveling north in the inside lane on U.S. 41 near Habitat Road. It was behind a 1994 Lexus sedan driven by Paula Macedo, 18, of Naples when it tapped the rear of Macedo’s car, casing her to lose control, according to reports.
The Lexus traveled to the left off the roadway, across the median and into the southbound lanes of U.S. 41, according to the report. The front of a 1995 Buick Century driven by 35-year-old Jeffrey Patrick Wallace hit Macedo’s Lexus and, as a result, Macedo’s car rotated counterclockwise and traveled off the road, according to the report.
Wallace’s car traveled to the right off the roadway and into a grass ditch, according to the report.
A witness told officers that the SUV that caused the accident stopped and a woman got out of the car, before getting back in her vehicle and leaving the scene.
Macedo had minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Wallace, of Naples, also had minor injuries and was taken to NCH Downtown Naples Hospital. Wallace’s passenger, 38-year-old Jennifer Butler, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Anyone with information about the hit and run vehicle is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at (239) 344-1730.
