Recreation: Redfish tourney, ride & dine and swim leagues

The ninth annual Ryan McCleskey Memorial Redfish Challenge is Saturday.

The captains meeting will be Friday night at the Twisted Conch, 837 SE 47th Terrace in Cape Coral.

The event includes a top prize of $1,500 with other prizes at $750 and $500. Winners are determined by the combined weight of two redfish.

The annual tournament honors Ryan McCleskey, who lost his fight against cancer Feb. 3, 2006. Proceeds go to Barbara’s Friends--The Children’s Hospital Cancer Fund.

EVP event May 25: The Extreme Volleyball Professionals Island Holiday tournament is Saturday, May 25, in Naples. The beach tournament at Vanderbilt Beach Resort begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 7 p.m.

Ride & Dine May 26: The Naples Pathway Coalition’s Ride & Dine begins at 5:30 p.m. at Barbatella 1290 Third St. S., on Sunday, May 26.

The hour ride will go around Olde Naples and finish back at the restaurant, where cyclists will dine. Email Tish at saubona5@aol.com to reserve a spot.

Swim league returns: The Naples Swim School at the Norris Aquatic Center is having the second season of the Paradise Coast Swim Conference, a summer youth league of independent Collier County community swim teams.

The league will begin May 28 and run through Aug. 3. Geared at swimmers aged 5 to 18, the teams offer youngsters a chance to swim competitively. Special emphasis is placed on building the sport in a fun and exciting team atmosphere.

Participating are the Norris Aquatic Center Tiger Sharks and the River Park Community Center, Immokalee and Ave Maria swim teams.
