A 26-year-old Naples man died when a van struck his motorcycle Saturday on Golden Gate Parkway, state police reported.
Florida Highway Patrol said Urbeil S. Hernandez was killed when the van, driven by 84-year-old Mary L. Griffith of Naples, tried to make a U-turn into the path of Hernandez and his motorcycle shortly before 4 p.m.
State troopers said Griffith was driving west on Golden Gate Parkway, east of 68th Street Southwest. When she attempted the U-turn, Hernandez — who was driving east on the parkway — was thrown from his motorcycle and hit the right side of the 2007 Honda Odyssey that Griffith was driving.
Hernandez, who was wearing a helmet, eventually landed in the grass on the south shoulder of the road.
Griffith suffered minor injuries and went to NCH Downtown Naples hospital.
Charges are pending once the investigation is completed, trooper reported.
