Prep football: Coordinators shuffle will test Golden Gate

Mariner at Golden Gate, Friday, 7 p.m.

It’s been an offseason of transition for the Titans, with offensive coordinator Mark Jackson becoming the head coach at Estero.

Manny Evans was named the defensive coordinator, and head coach Mike DiGrigoli will now serve as the offensive coordinator. DiGrigoli installed the pistol formation and is eager to show it off against Mariner.

“(Quarterback) Taylor Anderson has done a nice job of learning the new offense,” DiGrigoli said. “He’s pretty good with the ball in his hands, and we’re excited to see him carry the football.”

The Titans have moved back to a 4-3 alignment on defense under Evans, and DiGrigoli expects three-year starting strong safety Jaylon Gause to be one of the team’s defensive leaders.

“The spring practices have gone really well,” he said. “The kids have adapted to the new concepts.”
