Obama’s Administration vs Marco Island City Council

Obama had a promise of ‘change’; City Council promised the same

Obama refuses to even discuss spending cuts; council does likewise

Obama continually borrows and raises taxes; council follows suit.

White House mandates Obamacare; council mandates new Smokehouse Bridge.

Are you kidding me? And, even though on the agenda, council tables discussion on bridge repairs; will not even discuss it; are hell bent on replacing the bridge at four times the cost; even though the city attorney indicates repairs would be funded by Collier County. MICC says “why use someone else’s money when we can again borrow, tax and spend?”

Also on the past several agenda’s was the city debt discussion; it was once again put off. Will this critical topic ever be discussed at council meetings? Why is the council so reluctant to discuss this?

Facts: Per capita debt – Marco Island (2012 figures) $9,277; which is 18times the national average. Detroit’s is only $14,700; roughly $5,000 more, and they’re bankrupt!

Have you noticed that anything related to spending cuts or debt repayment is never discussed? Yet any and all items of increased spending, increased borrowing, increased debt, and increased payouts for employee unions and benefits, including a full year’s retroactive pay raise, are always discussed and passed!

Taxes go up, people leave, taxes go up more, more people leave.

A couple of interesting items are due in the near future: Marco Marriott expansion and the putt putt golf course decision. Tell Marriott no; and demolish illegal golf course!

President Obama with Congress approval has made changes – though you may not like the changes, a Republic Democracy works via elections, not one party fiat.

Obama refuses to even discuss spending cuts; council does likewise.

President Obama refused to discuss or negotiate with Congress based on the threat of a government shutdown…recall previous offer to cut social security cost of living adjustment or the fact that the annual budget deficit has dropped for 3 years in a row or the decline in employment at government offices across all levels of government.

Obama continually borrows and raises taxes; council follows suit.

Upon taking office President Obama demanded all debts created in the previous administration be accounted in the budget, Congress refuses to submit an annual budget; President proposes and Congress approves funding and taxes.

White House mandates Obamacare; council mandates new Smokehouse Bridge.

President Obama proposed, Congress approved, the Supreme Court found constitutional and voters re-elected President Obama to a 2nd term. As above, a Republic Democracy works via elections, not one party fiat. Under the US Constitution The Affordable Care Act has been confirmed, and likewise can be altered.

Tell Marriott no; and demolish illegal golf course!

I agree, follow the rule of law. Now, apply the same standard to President Obama and Congress.

Just another post that sounds like talking points from FOX news. Talk about drinking KOOL-AID.

FOX news needs to add a laugh track to their broadcasts, as its better to laugh than to hate.

A small faction of the right wing Republican party just cost ALL the America people 24 BILLION DOLLARS by closing down the government...

As a good American, Who would find nothing wrong with that? What was gained?

The election is over, Obama can't run again. Forget about Obama. Time to look to the future. Please Republican party give us someone we can vote for!

Hillary is warming up in the wings.

Looking forward.. who are the Republicans going to run? If history is any indication they will run Rick Santorum in 2016.

The Republican party has lost 5 out of the last 6 presidential elections, With an open mind, please ask yourself WHY?

Republicans need to move to the center and have fresh ideas if they ever want to regain the White House!

The right wing tea party needs to understand the worlds financial system is based on America's stability in the world.

We should start a movement.. The Democrats & Republicans should pass a bill which says...

If you want your welfare check/Food stamps (EBT) you have to show up at some federal job site and and go to work! Bridge, Road, Clean a federal Park, etc. No work, No check! That simple!

Unfortunately, for our Once Great Country, Obama is not in the rear view mirror, and I cannot imagine Biden doing any more damage than what has been done by Obama to date, and what he will do during the rest of his term. Regardless of the outcome of the next election, I don’t think we will ever be the same Country our Forefathers envisioned.

Here is another example of the “under the table” stuff going on behind our backs, and no one will ever convince me that Obama isn’t aware of things like this. The people in the Northeast are having a very difficult time trying to recover from Hurricane Sandy, and I’m sure this issue is not helping.

He will pile up in two terms more debt than all previous presidents combined. Interest rates will stay at near zero; he will lower the Labor Force Participation Rate to 1979 (Jimmy Carter) levels, and 3 out of 4 jobs created will be part-time. Record use of food stamps, unemployment, and disability insurance will be hallmarks of the Obama economy.

The government will take over health care, the costs will skyrocket and the Federal Agency assigned to enforce Obamacare will refuse to participate in it. Obama will outsource the ACA front-end web site and it will fail, all while he hands out over 1200 ObamaCare waivers to his Special Interest groups and Campaign Donors. Then Obama will illegally delay the Employer Mandate portion of the law until after the 2014 elections because of its negative impact on unemployment.

It's ALREADY the third party.

Everything the tea party espouses has already been supported by the Conservative; or CONSTITUTION Party.

The tea party IS the Constitution Party.

-And the Constitution Party is where Bachman and those far right people belong.

Then, if Americans want the far right platform; they know where to go.

If America is a Conservative nation as claimed by Rush Limbaugh; then let the Conservatives stand alone; in their own party; and see if they can win.

Perhaps; but sooner or later some Republican begins with the "fire and brimstone" rubbish, Personhood Amendments, Marriage Amendments; and threatens to roll women's rights back to the 1950's.

The problem is that the Jesus Cult has taken over the GOP and turned the once-great Republican Party into an arm of the evangelist movement.

That's why Jon Huntsman; the only hope the GOP had in beating Barack Obama; was not nominated to run for president in 2012.

Huntsman said: "Evolution is more then just a theory, and the GOP should not be seen as the anti-science party".

The Jesus Cult would have none of this, of course. Couple this with the fact that over 5 million evangelists did not vote for Romney because Romney believes that Christ Jesus will make his second coming somewhere in the State of Missouri.

You see: Behind all this present GOP concern for the economy; lies their limiting factors of god, creationism, anti abortion, anti contraception, destroying Planned Parenthood, anti Gay marriage, prayer and shoving the bible down your throat.

Unless you get rid of the Jesus Cult which presently controls the GOP; you are looking at a Democratic Dynasty for at least a generation to come.

When George Bush of the Jesus Cult brought down Iraq; he upset the balance of power in the Middle East; letting Iran out of its cage.

What was Bush thinking? What were the Allies thinking? How could they be so s-----?

Who knows? Maybe in George W. Bush's Evangelistic Mind; he WANTED a nuclear Iran in order to bring about that Armageddon and Lake of Fire predicted in that silly Book of Revelation.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least. Religious nuts don't only wear masks and veils . They also wear three-piece suits and skirts.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least to find that G.W. Bush initiated this whole mess in order to hasten that superstitious rubbish about "Armageddon" beginning in the Middle East ending with the coming of Christ.

Bush is an Evangelist; and one of their proselytizing methods is called “TRICKLE DOWN EVANGELISM” where the goal is to put their people into positions of power in order to further Orthodox Christianity and all the superstitious rubbish which goes along with it; including the fictional Book of Revelation.

Bush and his Evangelists just might get their Armageddon; but don't hold your breath waiting for Christ.

Get the Jesus Cult out of the GOP before it is too late.

Keep in mind that most large Federal Programs had glitches when first launched; like Social Security in 1935. It took a number of years before it was up and running correctly.

The Government Medicare program is an excellent website. Interesting that we don't hear Hannity and Limbaugh complaining about services from THAT "big government" program.

So the jury is still out on Obamacare.

If Obamacare falls apart over the next couple of years; so be it.

The website is actually the least of concerns that plague the onset of Obamacare. Just consider the fact, yes fact that the people who are being driven off existing private individual plans are a direct result of the changes instituted by HHS to limit the policies that can be continued under the grandfather clause. Interestingly, this clause was narrowly redefined to exclude a host of existing policies after enactment of the law, resulting in the letters of non-compliance to current policyholders.

As to Medicare, I will venture to say that the funding is about to be transferred to Obamacare, and the subsidies to support up to 400% above poverty level, will be borne disproportionately by the middle class...whih in my limited analysis will be the death of Obamacare.

Why? Because all the folks that were paying for individual healthcare understand the costs, deductibles and risks .... now all America can now see the costs including the 18 to 34 year typical uninsured class...except now the offerings of Obamacare through the exchanges are limited to a "minimum standard" coverage that has essentially wiped out exclusions normally found in pre-Obamacare policies like exclusion of maternal, mental health, etc and availability of catastrophic centric policies at the choosing of the applicant.

In essence, the deductibles, co-pays evident with limited choices of Obamacare will be borne by the young in much higher premiums and elderly with fewer medical provider participation. The winner: expansion of Medicaid model! and subsidies (promise?) to support.

I believe there will be more coming off private insurance rolls than the current young uninsured the government needs to apply for Obamacare...leading me to conclude, the original goal of providing insurance for the uninsured will have not been met other than to seductively expand Medicaid.

If Obamacare falls apart, the 24 billion loss during the shutdown will be considered insignificant...all because Obama would not accept the last proposal the opposing party in the house made: delay Obamacare for one year to individuals as was provided to businesses by HHS.... However, this was drowned out and minimally reported in the media dureing the waning hours of the debt crisis and government shutdown. Consequently, the opposing party is looked unfavorably by America.

I agree the Republicans are not great tacticians or smart at strategy, but they sure are excellent at sounding the alarm.

But alarmists are generally discounted by default, however, America deserves the representation it gets.

That is why I tend to favor a limited government, less crap to go wrong in someone else hand. I truly believe a growing dependent population of America is truly clueless. Great recipe for expanded government run by elected politicians who appoint other politicians to government agencies with no experience other than contributing to the ideological cause.

The Obama Principle.

I appreciate diversity and the commonality of man, but I have to caution those who have read my comments, I am a "sorted" breed.

I come with a bias, a perspective derived from information I gather from a host of sources. My thoughts are not earth shattering or revolutionary, but based on simple observation.

In this age of Google and the voluminous search capability, I wish to pass on this commentary, from Stratfor, a periodical dedicated to global intelligence. It is so revealing of the state of journalism in the world.

http://www.stratfor.com/weekly/geopol...

It is important to review and investigate with a curiosity, to which I often ask myself, as did Stratfor:

"Why is Stratfor so often out of sync with the news media?"

In the new "media ecology" commonly referred to as the information age filled with meta-data, this article provides insight into the synchronization of mainstream media and why, we as readers and commentators must be wary. The article, "Geopolitical Intelligence, Political Journalism and 'Wants' vs. 'Needs", includes a phrase I use liberally: "wants vs needs".

I found this author so insightful, I felt the "need" to pass it on especially those of us who often find ourselves out of sync.

"Journalism, in our age more than ever before, tells you what you want to know. Stratfor tells you what you need to know."

I hope our comments on this website can be as illuminating and thought provoking.

Are we out of sync? Or the stories told by mass media simply vacuous?

Why impeach Obama, he can't run again? The American people have voted, the election is over. Why risk injury to a fragile American economy and further destroy the Republican brand?

The Tea Party needs to be America's third party! The party is more Libertarian than Republican.

America has a whole is a centrist nation. If you don't get the independents to vote for your candidates, you wont win elections.

A woman who had been married three times walked into a bridal shop one day and told the sales clerk that she was looking for a wedding gown for her fourth wedding.

"Of course, madam," replied the sales clerk, "exactly what type and color dress are you looking for?

The bride to be said, "A long frilly white dress with a veil."

The sales clerk hesitated a bit, then said, "Please don't take this the wrong way, but gowns of that nature are considered more appropriate for brides who are being married the first time - for those who are a bit more innocent, if you know what I mean? Perhaps ivory or sky blue would be nice?"

"Well," replied the customer, a little peeved at the clerk's directness, "I can assure you that a white gown would be quite appropriate. Believe it or not, despite all my marriages, I remain as innocent as a first-time bride.

You see, my first husband was so excited about our wedding, he died as we were checking into our honey moon hotel.

My second husband and I got into such a terrible fight in the limo on our way to our honeymoon
hotel that we had that wedding annulled immediately and never spoke to each other again."

"What about your third husband?" asked the sales clerk.

"That one was a Democrat," said the woman, "and every night for four years, he just sat on the edge of the bed and told me how good it was going to be, but nothing ever happened."
