The Marco Mat Rats Wrestling comes to Marco Island through the Parks & Recreation Department.

Coaches Pat Kuhn and Tige Thompson will be at Mackle Park every Wednesday, 4 to 6 p.m.,from Sept. 10 to Nov. 14.

Their objective is to teach techniques to beginning and advanced wrestlers, striving to promote self-confidence, goo sportsman ship, commitment and a good work ethic.

Club memebrs will receive a club T-shirt and competition equipment for use during matches and tournament. Pre-registration is required. Call 642-0575.

Police Foundation golf outing

The 10th Annual Marco Police Foundation is Sept. 28 at the Island Country Club on Marco.

The 4-player golf scramble is $110 per golfer, which included breakfast, greens fees and cart, gift bags, luncheon and prizes. Cash prizes will go to the top three teams. Hole sponsorships at $100 are available.

Kiwanis of Marco Island 5K family fun run/walk

Reminder to take part in the event. The Kiwanis Club, Hideaway Beach and Collier County Parks & Recreation are working together.

Proceeds will go to eliminate maternal/neonatal tetanus. Sponsorships are available from $250 to $3,000.

Marco Triathlon Sept. 29

The ever-popular Triathlon will have competitors dive into the Gulf waters behind the Marco Island Marriott Resort to start the event, followed by biking and running. Start time is 8 a.m.

Competitors will swim 1/4-mile in the Gulf, bike 15 miles out and back through Marco Island and Key Marco, then finish with a 3.1-miles on the beautiful wide white sandy beach behind the Marriott.

Craig Carlson, one of the organizers said that volunteers are needed.
