— A man was killed and a woman was injured early this morning after a fire erupted in an East Naples home.

Around 1:20 a.m., East Naples and Golden Gate firefighters were called to 8578 Mustang Drive in Lely Resort, where they found a fully-involved duplex fire at 8578 Mustang Drive. Fire conditions extended more than 10 feet outside of the structure, according to a press release.

An 87-year-old man was killed in the blaze and an 87-year-old woman was injured. She is being treated at NCH Downtown Naples Hospital.

The state fire marshal was called to investigate. The resident of the neighboring unit has been displaced due to smoke and heat extension. The unit where the fire began is a complete loss, according to a news release.

The Marco Island fire department, Collier County Sheriff's Office and Collier EMS also responded to the scene.
