— Marya Repko reports, “We had good day, not too hot/humid, for our annual festival to send off the stone crab fleet. We invited arts and crafts vendors this year and their tents made a colorful spectacle. The event is to wish our crabbers well in the coming season. They harvest the delectable claws from Oct. 15 to May 15 but drop traps starting Oct. 5. Pastors from local churches blessed each boat after the vessels docked along the river by the historic Rod & Gun Club in Everglades City.”

The day was organized by the Everglades Society for Historic Preservation. For more information about their other events and activities, see www.evergladeshistorical.org or call (239) 605-2905.

A more accurate term would be WITCH DOCTORS.

>>> Did the same pastors who so unctuously blessed the unquestioning love of Fido & Meow just a couple days ago now bless those whose only passion is to kill and butcher these other loving animals?

>>> Are crabs not God's creatures too?
