Letter to the Editor: Hold Marriott to their promise

Traffic on Marco is worse than ever and with 1,800 homes still to be built it is not going to improve. We who live here must wake up and look at the facts closely.

Just for argument take 500 companies shipping their trade show booths then four days later returning for pick up. Folks that’s many hundreds of additional trucks plus the thousands of folks who drive on for just the show and or convention. It will be a nightmare driving in season ... off season will be like driving in season.

Most taxes collected by Marriott go to Collier County bed and breakfast tax. Marco Island does not receive all Marriott’s taxes. In time Islanders taxes will be needed for additional police and fire along with road and bridge repairs.

The PUD maximum height is 100 ft. Hold Marriott to their promise in writing. This was a contractual agreement with the city.
