Marco Island police arrested a 55-year-old man Saturday after a SWAT team was called to his home for a domestic disturbance.
Mark Ryland, of the 700 block of Apple Court, faces a charge of domestic violence battery.
Around 10 p.m. Friday, a woman called police, saying she had left Ryland's home after an altercation with him. She told officers she was worried he would harm himself or resist officers.
Police and a Collier County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team went to the Apple Court home but did not find Ryland. He was arrested around 7:30 a.m. when he returned home.
According to a police report, Ryland was in a cult for 12 years and kept guns in the residence; two were found in the master bedroom and were taken for safekeeping.
He is accused of punching the woman in the face.
She was treated on scene for her injuries, according to a news release.
