Wind chill advisory issued; local shelters to open

The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a wind chill advisory for Collier in effect from 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday.

A northwest wind of 10 to 15 mph with gusts around 20 mph along with temperatures around freezing will result in wind chill readings in the lower to mid 20s for several hours.

The forecast has prompted these local shelters to open their doors:

■ St. Matthew’s House, 2001 Airport Pulling Road South, in Naples.

■ The Salvation Army of Lee, Hendry and Glades counties: Men are sheltered at 2476 Edison Avenue in Fort Myers, and women and children are sheltered at 2400 Edison Avenue in Fort Myers.
